... this is a pinup I did recently for a Wildstorm sourcebook. I grew up with eeearly Image comics, so it's always cool to draw characters like Fuji and Winter... it reminds me of my high-school days and huddling with my friends to see what new Image comics had come out.

It's weird, 'cause now it's almost 'uncool' to admit one enjoyed Image comics at the time, and yeah, in hindsight some of the writing was kinda' painful, BUT most of those books were BEAUTIFULLY drawn, not to mention that the coloring style that came out of the times changed comics for ever. :)

Very nice work!

I too grew up on the first Image series' and I still think they were the best thing
that happened to comics in years. They had some of the best art in the industry,
not to mention discovered a lot of future talent(J. Scott Campbell, Joe Mad,
Brian Hitch, etc.)that were unlikely to have been given a shot by the big two.
I totally agree about the coloring, and as far as the writingwent, Marvel and DC
weren't exactly setting the world on fire with their writing
either(Spider-Man clone saga anyone?).

I love this concept , this first image wave of comics probably werent that well written but at the time they were outstanding.

i prefer your rendition of these characters.... like everything give it 5 years and it will be cool to like the "vintage" Image comics again.

thank you very very much... don't forget, art is like a marathon, not a sprint... gotta work at it every day, and be stubborn and at the same time patient with yourself.... it all boils down to drawing as much as you possibly can, practice, practice, then practice some more! :)

Amen to that brother! Yer work is amazing!
It's funny how the lame stuff from the good ol' days is bad enough to make people put the whole time period in a negative box. Either way, I draw comics because of those times. Many of us do. So the 90's couldn't have been all bad.
