... when I first got offered to do work on a StarCraft comic I was STOKED!!!... I'll be honest and admit I haven't played the game a whole lot, BUT I do love the visuals and the Tonka-Toy feel of the armour and tech in general (and I say Tonka is the most REVERENTIAL possible way... I LOOOOVE TONKA!!! )
.... anyway, as is usually the case, I think I go to draw the big HUGE power-armour a total of ONCE in all the short stories I did! heheheheh... for the most part, the pages I drew were very 'civilian' in nature, so this short story was the most 'military' and action-based of the ones I got to work on, and I am still happy with it.
The pages were printed in full color, but I like doing a 'greyscale' layer so the colorist can colorize it and save time, but also I get to be more specific with lighting and stuff like that.... yes, I am a control-freak
... so basically, this character (sorry, forgot his name!) is a mercenary and deals in 'pharmaceuticals' on the side.
It is a protoss drug that causes hallucinations. It is an important maguffin in some of the literature and the back story of Starcraft 2 as far as I know.
Dude, what are you drawing next?! If you were illustrating a Starcraft comic I would be all over that. Anyhow great job, I remember seeing this and the covers. Beautiful stuff. I also love the Tonka-toyesque feel of all of Blizzard Entertainments properties and you really captured that in your art but gave us your own distinct style along with it. Awesome work Carlos!
Oh man, If I knew it was you behind this, I would have congratulated you sooner!
