... this bastard here is my rendition of Bane for the DCO game... I did this one before I got the gig to work on Arkham Asylum, so this was a nice warm-up.... I was looking at what Kelly Jones had originally done with Bane back in the 90's, and I wanted to do a bit of that with Bane's anatomy and proportions.... for the mask though, I was more inspired with what they had done on 'Batman the animated series' ...that was the first time I realized that Bane's supposed to be wearing a Mexican wrestler mask... I NEVER knew that 'cause I didn't get that AT ALL from the original version... so this one is more of my 'homage' to the Bane from the cartoon!
I think the finished version didn't have his mouth exposed... kinda wish it had... oh well... I got to show his mouth on Arkham Asylum!!!
thank you.... for the most part I stopped using mirroring though... things always look a bit weird unless you are dealing with monsters and stuff like that! ... still, for info to give to 3D modelers it get's the job done!
Cool model sheet! When I designed Bane, his mask originally had the eyes, nose and mouth cut out so it looked like a Mexican wrestler's mask. DC had me fill it in so that it looked more "mysterious".
... you did the original design?!? heheh and this whole time I thought it was Kelley Jones! honor to meet' you Sir!
... it makes SO much more sense when I found out it was supposed to be a Mexican Wrestler mask and outfit... once you cover up the mouth and eyes, he starts to look more like a weird SpiderMan/Venom hybrid, but I totally understand your position, I've had to make a gazillion weird changes to designs on a regular basis.... then again, the whole 'realistic approach' to costumes is a fairly new phenomenon.
Kelly just did the covers, Chuck. I designed and co-created Bane with Chuck Dixon for VENGEANCE OF BANE and his catalyst for KNIGHTFALL. I had to sign up for a deviant account to make my comment so maybe I should start posting some art. I'll load the original pencil drawing of Bane so you can see where he came from. I like your design a lot!

My plan to have you read what I've written is working! ಠ_ಠ
