Catwoman bio ArkhamAsylum by Chuckdee Catwoman bio ArkhamAsylum by Chuckdee
This here's the 'bio' image for good ol' Selina for Arkham Asylum.... ghaaaa!!! I look at these now and I would have done a gazillion things differently... it's hard going from 'static' design-work to gestural pin-up, so these to me feel a bit stiff... oh well >:(

This kind of looks like her costume from Batman Returns mixed with The Long Halloween.

Personally I love this a hundred fold to the Arkham City design. Don't get me wrong, there's still a lot of good elements in the other one, but this one looks like such a perfect blend of functionality and sexuality.

While playing Arkham Asylum, my favorite thing ever (besides the main game-play of course) was unlocking the character bios so I could see your bio art! I wish Arkham City had your bio art. I enjoyed it a lot better than just the screenshots of the characters that they had in Arkham City.

heheh.... when I did this, I had no idea that Arkham City would happen (Arkham Asylum hadn't come out yet), but if you look at it, the final design (and this one) are both inspired by the genius of Darwin Cooke's Catwoman.... I wish I could have taken a stab at her design for the second game, but alas' I was busy designing some of the other characters... but yeah, if you got time, check out Darwin Cooke's Catwoman: that's the design that inspired all this stuff! :)

Dude, your concept art is very cool and a good source of inspiration. I would really like to do this sort of thing.

Also, a fine looking picture of everyone's favorite cat burglar. Catwoman's one of my favorite DC characters.
It occurs to me, though, that a lot of Catwoman designs are very traditional. It would be nice to see something different, but of course it not always wrong to go traditional...

Looking back at this, too, I really wish they'd gone with your designs for Arkham City.

I mean, Selina's well done and all, but...damn they needed to let her do up her jumpsuit.
In fact, I'd say this beat the AC final version hands down.

I have to agree that her legs are a little awkward, but I think it's cause her left leg (thus, on the right side) is coming forward, but the crease at her crotch would make it go back instead. Seriously though, my only gripe with this is her incredibly long whip, and one could always argue that she's holding two of them. :XD:

It's seriously amazing though. I was totally blown away by your art style for Arkham Asylum and was elated to find you had a deviantART account too. :la:

Catwoman is very likely my favorite DC character of all time, and here, she looks just stunning. The outfit looks functional for a thief, still a little sexy, and overall just badass. The boots especially. I can't get over those boots. :omg:

You use colons outside of the code.

:example: <-- like that, only with an actual code. :XD:

There's an "Emoticons" link in every comment and reply box, on the bottom. If you click that, you'll see every emote and its code. ;) Some of them are more obvious than others. . . hence the one you managed to use.

The legs look a bit awkward to me. (Shut up me, you don't have half this guy's talent.) But other than that I really like this Catwoman! The lights reflecting off give amazing details. The goggles are a very nice design. If I remember she only recently started wearing the yellow goggles, but it seems to me before they were too round or had too much of the pointy ends on her other goggles. Here it feels like it curves nicely to her face. In fact, everything about this seems like a very "real" design which while I'm not always found of for comic characters *looks at Dark Knight's Joker's outfit* goes really well with Catwoman. Here's hoping the movies have something like this.

... as DargonsLover pointed out, the hips are rotating in the opposite direction... it's very subtle, but it USUALLY is when it comes to girl's contraposto.... damn it, didn't see it earlier!!! where's the angry emoticon???

Oh, thanks. I hadn't seen those yet. Wow, that is very simple. I don't know, I really hope they get Catwoman right, but I have trouble seeing Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. This isn't making me more optimistic. On the other hand, I didn't like the previous movie as a Joker movie, but I loved it as a "What if?" movie. Even if I'm not a gritty fan I hope it will stay true to this new gritty Batman. That's how they started and if they want to make a good third film that's how it needs to be.

In either case, I really like this Catwoman design a lot better.

Yeah I wasn't too thrilled with the choice of Anne Hathaway either. I hope they had a really good reason for picking her. Either way I'm holding off critiques until I actually see the movie. So long as they plucked her eyebrows a bit, I think I'll be happy with it. :XD:
